The Secret Life Of Private Degree In Singapore

University education in Singapore is different from education systems in other countries. A degree from the University of London is globally recognized, even though you studied it at a school located on another continent. You cannot say the same for Singapore’s universities.

A private degree in Singapore is not recognized worldwide. However, it can be an excellent way to get started with your career in Singapore because it shows that you have studied and graduated from university.

It is often better than nothing when applying for many jobs and can provide an advantage over people without degrees or foreign degrees. Employers may see this as an advantage or disadvantage, depending on their views of local educational institutions.

If you decide to study locally, choose universities with a solid academic and employability reputation, such as NUS and NTU, and consider other options, such as foundation courses at private colleges or online platforms like Coursera.

There are two options for obtaining a private degree in Singapore: studying entirely locally or completing part of your studies outside Singapore. If you plan to study abroad, make sure the school is recognized by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), or the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS).

If you plan to study thoroughly locally, your best bets are the NUS and NTU. The former has a good reputation worldwide but is difficult to enter without prior work experience. Although it has pretty selective entry requirements, it offers world-class courses with flexible entry requirements.

If you want to find a place at one of these universities yourself, you can take their self-placement tests. If you need a degree for Singapore itself, these two options may be too difficult to reach.

The private degree providers will act as an intermediary between you and the universities. However, this option is not as popular as it used to be because these companies do not have a good reputation within the academic world.

After completing your degree in Singapore,

Make sure you keep all documentation from your school to prove your educational achievement if required by an employer or professional organization. It includes final grades, diploma supplements, transcripts, and certifications of courses related to your major.

If possible, ask for feedback from previous students about their experience with this educational provider before you decide on one specific company.

Mention something more than just cost-effectiveness, even though this is an essential factor in choosing a degree.

Most universities in Singapore will teach you what is taught at other schools worldwide. It can be an advantage if you want to pursue a career abroad because many employers require degrees from top-ranked universities worldwide, such as Cambridge, Oxford, or Harvard.

It is also difficult to gain credibility with your professional network because of this lack of international recognition. Although studying locally will give you certain benefits, such as improved employment prospects and improved language skills, doing this will not be the most beneficial option in the long run.
